Groundwater flooding in villages surrounding Andover.

Flooding is possible for: Communities at risk of groundwater flooding surrounding Andover, including Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Mewsey, Redenham, Weyhill Bottom, Kimpton, Amport and Monxton.

Be prepared.

Groundwater levels in villages surrounding Andover are high, and continuing to rise in response to the rainfall received over the last month. We expect groundwater to be affecting cellars in Appleshaw, the sewer network in Penton Mewsey, and the main road at Penton Grafton. In the next 3 days, cellar flooding is also expected in Hatherden. Tomorrow (Tuesday 19/12/2023), up to 20mm of rain is forecast in Hampshire. Dry weather is expected from Wednesday (20/12/2023) to Friday (22/12/2023). Groundwater is expected to continue rising. We expect the spring at Biddesden to flow from Friday (22/12/2023). Cellar flooding in Penton Grafton and groundwater emergence into Deacon and Down Road, Kimpton is possible by the end of the week. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please remove valuables from cellars and if you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure they can operate.
